John Alex, 75, of Summerville, SC, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018. John grew up in Erie, PA and raised his family in the Eastwood area of Syracuse. He resided on Camic Road in Brewerton for 16 years before moving to South Carolina last September.
John was a US Air Force veteran serving during Vietnam. He retired in 2001 after 35 years in the Shipping and Receiving Department of Carrier Corporation in Syracuse. John was an avid bowler who played in many leagues in the Syracuse area including Bowling Green in North Syracuse. He enjoyed summering at the family camp in Brennan's Beach, Pulaski and attended St. Daniel's Catholic Church.
John was predeceased by his parents, the late James and Florence Alex. Surviving is his wife of 35 years, the former Martha Oeinck; two daughters: Holly (Jack) Smeriglio of Summerville and Heather (Brian) Shorney of Central Square; and his 10 grandchildren: Gisella, Noland, Kayla, Abriella, Tayah, Kaiden, Brynlia, Rhyla, Meenah, and Corah.
