Obituary for Mary Ann Morrison

Mary Ann Morrison, 85, formerly of Libby Street and Greenpoint in Liverpool, died November 9, 2018, at Elderwood. Mary Ann grew up in Swoyersville, PA, born to the late Joseph and Helen (Zavada) Olejnik. She graduated in 1951 from Swoyersville High School, and enjoyed attending many of her high school reunions. Mary Ann married William A. Morrison in 1957, and they resided in Liverpool for 26 years before moving to Myrtle Beach. She retired to Syracuse in 1995 following the death of her husband.

Mary Ann was a member and Past President of the United Methodist Women's Mission and Guild Circle of the former Calvary United Methodist Church in Mattydale. She volunteered for Boy Scouts Troop 65 in Liverpool for more than 25 years, and also donated her time to Hospice of CNY for several years. She was a member of the Cicero Senior Center and enjoyed activities at Greenpoint and Elderwood. Mary Ann was a member of Liverpool United Methodist Church since Calvary United Methodist Church's closing.

Mary Ann always had a smile on her face and kind words for others. She was an eternal optimist who always found the good in people. She was small in stature, had a huge heart, and was tough as nails!

She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Morrison, in 1995.

Mary Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William P. and Audrey Morrison of Cicero; three siblings: Daniel and Joseph Olejnik, and Agatha Abromavage, all of PA; and by several nieces and nephews. Although she was not a grandmother, she held a special place in her heart and home for her “adopted” Liverpool kids.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Boy Scouts of America Longhouse Council, 2803 Brewerton Rd., Syracuse, NY 13211 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 – 6:30 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will follow at 6:30 pm. Committal Services for both Mary Ann and William with Military Honors will be Saturday, 10 am, in North Syracuse Cemetery Columbarium.
