Elizabeth A. "Aunt Betty" Barbagallo

July 9, 1940 — April 4, 2022

Elizabeth “Aunt Betty” A. Barbagallo, 81, lifelong resident of Mattydale, passed away Monday, April 4th, 2022 at University Hospital. She was the middle child of five born to the late Otto and Margaret (Schill) Scherr and was a 1958 graduate of North Syracuse High School.

Betty worked as an inspector for 24 years at B.G. Sulzle Needle Company in North Syracuse. She was a member of the Toad Harbor Rod and Gun Club and a former bowler who was in many leagues at Strike ‘N Spare Lanes. Betty enjoyed visiting the family camp during the summers in the Adirondacks. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church.

In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by four siblings: Helen Addison, Martin O. Scherr, Sarah Tuttle, and Richard Scherr.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Sara Cesta) Barbagallo with whom she resided and by several nieces, nephews and cousins here and in Germany.

Donations in Betty's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10:00 AM, at St. Margaret’s Church, 200 Roxboro Rd., Mattydale. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
