Kathleen R. Oliver (Rinella)

August 6, 1951 — April 12, 2022

Kathleen R. (Rinella) Oliver, 70, of North Syracuse, passed away on April 12th, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Born in Syracuse, Kathy was raised and educated in North Syracuse. She graduated from North Syracuse High School, class of 1969. Kathy continued her studies at Maria Regina College and later obtained her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland.

After college, she was united in marriage to David G. Oliver. A blessed union of 47 years followed. Kathy enjoyed a 33-year career as a math teacher in the Fayetteville Manlius School District. Kathy retired from teaching in 2006 and started volunteering at North Area Meals on Wheels. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart and St. Rose Churches. Kathy’s family, friends, and students were of upmost importance to her. She was at her happiest spending time with her two grandsons.

Kathy was predeceased by her son, Michael Oliver; her parents, Peter and Peggy (Baker) Rinella; and two brothers, Paul and Peter Rinella.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, David Oliver of North Syracuse and Fort Pierce, FL; her son, Scott (Laju) Oliver of Cicero; and grandsons, Jaxon and Andru Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kathy’s memory may be made to North Area Meals on Wheels,
413 Church Street, North Syracuse, NY 13212.

A Mass of Christian Burial held at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 28th. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
