Fred K. Aboud, Jr., 61, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday at his home. Fred was a native of Montreal, Quebec and was the son of the late Fred Aboud and Bafelia ?Bunny? Morris.
He moved to the US with his family when he was 8 years old and later graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1964 then earned an Associates Degree in business from Powelson Institute. Fred owned and operated several restaurants in the Syracuse area since 1964 including the Come Back Inn in Liverpool and Fat Freddy?s Café in Mattydale. He was a lifelong supporter to the local music scene and always supplied a venue for them to play. Fred was a boating enthusiast and a humanitarian; he would many times offer his restaurant as a site for fundraising events. Fred was the past president of the Tavern Keepers Association, was a SAMMY Syracuse Area Music Award winner and served as a contributing music editor for Table Hopping Newspaper. He was a member of the St. Elias Eastern Orthodox Church.
Surviving are his wife of 4 years, Deborah Keller, two sons; Nick Aboud, of Liverpool, and Dan Kelly Aboud, of Liverpool, his two step children; Chris Terri Holcomb and Allison Jeff German, and five step grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Friday at the Krueger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Deborah Aboud C/O Vincent Giarrusso, 6163 Eastern Ave, Syracuse NY 13211.
