Alexander “Bill” Willis Turk Calloway Dowdell Ogletree, 80, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, at home. Bill grew up in Auburn, Alabama and attended Loachapoka public school before moving to Syracuse in 1968.
He retired in 2013 as a machine operator at Crouse Hinds Corp in Syracuse. He loved bowling and softball for many years. Bill enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling back home to Alabama to visit, and listening to blues music. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Bill was a former member of CME Methodist Church in Loachapoka.
He was predeceased by his parents, Willie Mack Calloway and Lillian Willis, his grandparents, Sharena Dowdell and Albert Willis and by several brothers and sisters.
Bill is survived by five children: Chris Ogletree and Rodney Ogletree, both of Syracuse, Bonita Ogletree, Marie Ogletree, and Collette (Dave) Byrd, all of Auburn, Alabama; several brothers and sisters in Alabama: Ricky Turk, Janette Turk, Tommie Turk, Joe D. (Shirley) Turk, Judy Clearance Manley, Willie May (John) Porter, Dildra (Tommie) Richinson, Cynthia (Robert) Vaugh, Steven (Yolanda) Calloway, and Jonathan (Mary) Calloway; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, January 26, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
