John W. Allen, 64, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, June 6 at Crouse Hospital. John was born in Auburn, Alabama, and moved to the Syracuse area in the late 1960's. He was the son of the late J. B. and Ethel (Grimes) Allen.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator through the Operating Engineers Local #545 in Syracuse and is slated to be honored this month for 30 years of service. John was a music enthusiast and outdoorsman who loved fishing, boating and lawn care. He was loved by his community and enjoyed time spent with his granddaughter. John was a member of the Body of Christ Church on the Earth and is now going home to be with his Lord.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Venetta Blue; their children: Juana M. (Allen) Samai of Liverpool and Duriel A. Allen of Camillus; his granddaughter, Yandalys M. Allen; two sisters: Lula Mae Allen of Syracuse, and Juanita White of Dewitt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-6 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Reflections may be expressed to conclude the visitation from 5:30-6 pm with funeral services beginning at 6 pm.
