Peter G. “Pop Pop”Anchikites, 77, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Peter P. and Janice (Hill) Anchikites, Pete was raised in the Scranton area before relocating to the West side of Syracuse. He was a 1962 graduate of Vocational High School in Syracuse.
Pete retired in 2004 after 36 years as a welder for Carrier Corporation in Syracuse and held multiple officer positions with the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #527. He was an avid golfer, a member of Greenview Country Club in West Monroe, and golfed in several men’s leagues. Pete was a weight lifting enthusiast who competed in NYS Senior competitions and held a power lifting record benching 405 lbs. He loved the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing including salmon fishing.
Pete is survived by his wife of 26 years, Darlene (Valasek); two children: Mary (Peter) Bearkland of North Syracuse and P.J. (Vicki) Anchikites of Apollo Beach, FL; two step-children: Aaron Ryan and Leah (Pascal) Field, both of Fulton; a sister, Phyllis Behan of Syracuse; and grandfather of Matthew, Andrew, Ryan, Hayleigh, Aaron, Tommy, Jadyn, and Aria.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale, with a Funeral Service following at 7:00 PM. Face coverings will be required, and CDC & NYS Dept. of Health guidelines will be enforced. Funeral Services will be live streamed on our website beneath his obituary and on Facebook.
