Anna E. Colunio, 97, of Mattydale, passed away Saturday, February 18. A native of Syracuse, Ann was raised on the lower East side of Syracuse. She was the last surviving child born to the late Candido and Maria (DiMattia) Rossetti. Ann lived at 212 Mary Street for 47 years before moving to Mattydale in 2000.
She retired in 1968 after 38 years as a timekeeper for Prestolite in Syracuse. Ann also worked as a Special Deputy at the Onondaga County Public Safety Building. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital knitting and crocheting blankets for the VA hospital and hats, gloves, and scarves for school children. Ann was an avid bowler until the age of 87 on various leagues in the area. She was a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizens and a communicant of Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Syracuse and St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
She was predeceased by a sister and five brothers.
Ann is survived by her five children: Albert J. Colunio of Clemmons, NC, Mary Ann (Thomas) Baird of Winston-Salem, NC, Dorothy (Frank) Cummings of Mattydale, Patricia (Dominick) Vannelli of Liverpool, and Michele Colunio of Mattydale; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
