Mark L. Bailey, 60, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 24th, 2015, at his home. A native of Syracuse, Mark was a 1973 graduate of A.P.W. High School and received his Associates' Degree in Humanities from OCC. He resided in California for two years before moving back to the Syracuse area in the 1980's.
Mark worked at Syracuse University Office of Advancement for the past 12 years. Prior to that, he worked as a Med Tech at Upstate University Hospital. He was a member of the Sierra Club. Mark was a voracious reader devoted to classic literature and historic authors. He was a great admirer of music and art. Mark's profound appreciation of music ranged from jazz to classical to rock. In Mark's own words: "I am a student of the human condition."
He was predeceased by his mother, Cleo Griffith.
Mark is survived by his step-father, Edward Griffith of Sun City, CA; a sister, Judy Notarthomas of Manteo, NC; his brother, David Bailey of Portland, ME; two step-sisters: Terry Griffith of Sacramento, CA and Tammy Morrow of Temecula, CA; a step-brother, John Griffith of Rome; his nieces: Lisa McLaughlin, Deanna Morgese, and Alexandra Ventura; and a nephew, Chris Notarthomas.
Syracuse University will be holding a Memorial Service on Thursday, August 27th at 11:00 am in Hendricks Chapel for family, co-workers and friends.
