Carl W. Baker, Sr., 75, of North Syracuse, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Carl was born and raised in West Fairview, PA prior to moving into Liverpool in 1968 for 15 years. He then moved to North Syracuse where he resided for the past 28 years. He was the son of the late Wayne and Evelyn (Wright) Baker.
Carl served in the US Air Force for 8 years serving at several bases throughout the US and abroad including Okinawa where he met his wife, Etsuko. He retired in 2005 after more than 20 years as a shipping clerk at Syracuse Label Company in Liverpool. Prior to that, Carl worked as a mechanic and manager at the Salina Shell Station. He loved hiking and fishing especially in Oneida Lake and was a member of Armour of Light Baptist Church in Victory, NY.
Carl is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Etsuko (Tomori); their two children: Susan (Greg) Settle of Meridian and Carl, Jr. of North Syracuse; his five siblings: Carolyn Steiner, Wayne, George, Leon, and Donald Baker all of PA; three granddaughters: Sondra (Andrew), Jacquelyn, and Taylor; and his great grandson, Cooper
Services are Saturday, 2:00 pm at Buckley Road Baptist Church, 4962 Buckley Rd., Liverpool.
