Kathleen M. Bennett, 83, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen was a native of the North side of Syracuse and resided on Ross Park for over 40 years before moving to Ellenton, Florida for 14 years. She had since moved back to the Syracuse area in 2008 and resided on Bryant Ave. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Kathryn (Kuhl) McCarthy.
Kathleen was a graduate of North High School Class of 1947 and attended LeMoyne College. She retired in 1995 after 18 years as the president of The Bennett Funding Group Inc. and the former Aloha Leasing. Kathleen was active in various community functions and served on several boards of directors. She was a long standing member of St. John the Baptist Church where she was involved with many church organizations and committees over the years.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 63 years, E.T. “Bud” Bennett; their two sons: Patrick R. (Gwen) Bennett of Sherrill, and Michael A. Bennett of Syracuse; a sister: Merrilee Goffredo of West Monroe; a brother: Robert McCarthy of Skaneateles; and two grandsons: Patrick and Andrew Bennett, many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Funeral services will be on Monday, 8:15 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am at St. John the Baptist Church in Syracuse. Private burial will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
