Luella Birklin

June 29, 1922 — August 8, 2007

Luella G. Gullen Birklin, 85, of Shaver Ave, North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at home. Luella was a native of Malone, NY and had resided in North Syracuse for over 20 years and maintained a summer home at Hyde Lake. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Edith Dumas.
Luella retired in 1994 after working as a cook in many restaurants in the Syracuse area including: Brighton Diner, Liberty Diner, Cameron?s Diner, and Don?s Restaurant in Solvay. She was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. She volunteered at the Ida Benderson Senior Center in Syracuse, was an avid bingo player and loved to sew.
Luella was predeceased by her first husband, Chester Gullen in 1958, her husband, William Birklin in 1992 and her two son-in-laws Ronald Crofoot and Norbert Mitchell. Surviving are her five daughters: Edith Crofoot, of Fayetteville, Maureen Ron Sensenich, of Camillus, Mary Mitchell, of Bridgeport, Delight Fred Simonds, of North Syracuse, Tina Bob Wolfe, of North Syracuse; her son Tony Betty Gullen, of Baldwinsville; her two brothers: Murland, of Syracuse, and Clayton; her four sisters, Genevieve Mack, of FL, Nearska St. Mary and Wanda Rock, both of Malone, NY, and Virginia Teller, of Syracuse; her 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-4pm and 7-9pm Sunday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral services are Monday; 11:00am at St. Rose of Lima followed by burial in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Dewitt.
