Louis R. Bottino, 81, of Cicero, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Louis was a native of Syracuse who grew up on the North side and resided in the Clay and Cicero areas since 1970. He was the son of the late Luigi and Filamena Giannoni Bottino.
Louis was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He owned and operated Bottino Construction and was a self employed contractor and builder for over 60 years in the Syracuse area. Louis was an avid bowler and golfer and a member of Northern Pines Golf Club. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in the Bishop Cunningham Council.
Louis was predeceased by his brothers, Emilio and Victor Bottino.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Dufresne, his brother Ernest Bottino of Lyncourt; four children: Valerie Celi of Cicero, Luann Bottino of Syracuse, Louis E. Bottino of Liverpool, and Lori Banuski John Ingalls of Cicero; his thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer will begin on Friday at 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
