Josephine ?Josie? Diello Brackin, 89, formerly of 368 Chestnut St., North Syracuse died Friday at Van Duyn Home and Hospital. Born in Syracuse to the late John and Gertrude Diello. She grew up on the family farm in Jamesville, later resided in N. Syracuse for 42 years and at Greenpoint Special Needs in Liverpool for two years before moving to Van Duyn in 2000.
Josie retired from General Electric in 1964 as a machine operator, prior to that she also worked at McMillan Book Co., Easy Washer and Syracuse General. She was a communicant of St. Margaret?s RC Church in Mattydale.
Josie was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Vincent L. in 2001, a granddaughter Cindy Vincenti?, a son-in-law Eddie Jones in 2000, four brothers and six sisters Francis Diello, Catherine Bogdan, Louise Grygiel, Florence Meck, Betty Meck, Donald Diello, Barbara Desimone, Dorothy Hoalcraft, Robert Diello and Thomas Diello.
Surviving are three daughters Cheryl A. Jones of Clay, Janice M. and Patrick Bolton of Baldwinsville, Diane H. Vincenti? of Pompey, a son Vincent T. Brackin of North Syracuse, a sister Nancy Hoalcraft of Elbridge, four brothers Joseph Diello of New Bern NC, Fred Diello of N. Syracuse, John Diello of Oklahoma, William Diello of Hilton Head SC, 5 grandchildren, Steven Jones, Candace Jones, Jason Hornick, Matthew Brackin, Barbara Brackin, 3 great grandchildren Christopher Yerdon, Kristy Yerdon, David Jones and 149 neices and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Monday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will be Tuesday 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Dewitt.
