George F. ?Brownie? Braun, 95, of Lawrence Ave in North Syracuse, died Monday at Crouse Hospital. George was a native of Syracuse and had resided in North Syracuse since the 1950?s. He was the son of the late George C. and Frieda Hess Braun.
George attended Syracuse University Electronics and was a US Army Signal Corps Veteran serving in World War II. He retired in 1977 after 35 years as a wire designer for General Electric. George volunteered for the School District Elections, at WCNY, and at Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine. He was a long time member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church where he served as an usher as well as assisting in the maintenance and upgrades at the church.
George is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Dorothy Thompson; two children: Gordon Braun of Port Orange, FL and Jeri Milback of Constantia; a step son: Bob Emmons of Brick, NJ; his brother: Edward of Syracuse; a sister: Lois Bussman of Lakeland, FL; four grandchildren: Michele, Christian, Karen, and Ian; and seven great grandchildren: Katie, Emily, Timmy, Hayley, Mikey, Jonathon, and Thomas.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin on Thursday, 10:15 am at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 11 am in Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Luther Memorial Columbarium.
