Gerald Brown

Gerald ?Jerry ? E. Brown, 55, of Richfield Blvd., Mattydale, died Thursday at St. Joseph?s Hospital with his loving wife, family, and friends by his side. Born in Syracuse, Jerry obtained his Master?s degree from Syracuse University in 1982. He was a teacher for the Syracuse City School District for 33 years and was well-known for his creativity in the classroom, receiving numerous awards for his excellence in teaching. Jerry was dedicated to teaching bilingual students. His ability to share and communicate his passion for teaching resulted in unique and creative projects in the classroom that created dynamic learning experiences. He used his love of music and guitar playing as a teaching instrument in many of his classes. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing in the Adirondack Mountains, spending time with his family and traveling to Puerto Rico.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Margaret McLean Brown, and his sister, Constance Brooks. Jerry is survived by his wife, Margarita Deleon Brown, son Michael J. Meryl Brown of Bloomington, IL, daughter, Julie M. Brown of Cambridge, MA, sister Nanette James O?Reilly of Mattydale, brother Judson Colleen Brown of CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home Inc. 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale, NY. Funeral Service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret?s Church, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale, NY.
