Henry A. Bruno, 85, of North Syracuse, entered into eternal peace at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 8. He was born in Geneva and later moved to Mattydale where he & his beloved wife, Frances, raised their 5 daughters.
Henry was a World War II veteran in the 17th Airborne Division as a paratrooper in the European Theatre. He was wounded in combat and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1832. As an accountant for the US Army Corps of Engineers, his career led him to Watertown, NY, Heidelburg, Germany, and Winchester, VA. In 1986, Henry retired to North Port, FL. In 2000 he moved back to Syracuse to be closer to his family.
He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Frances R. Bruno, in 2008 and his daughter, Carolyn Holden, in 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Christina John Sobecki of Leesburg, VA, Francine Thomas Camino of Syracuse, Mary William Mocarski of Baldwinsville and Patricia Jack Silvia of Liverpool, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Corene Bruno of Waterloo and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret?s Church.
