Harold W. Casolare, 91, of Mattydale, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28th. Harold was a native of Syracuse and a life resident of Mattydale; he was the son of the late Walter W. and Mary Casolare.
Harold retired in 1998 after 60 years as the owner and operator of Harold's Jewelry Repair Shop. He played violin for the Onondaga Civic Symphony Orchestra for many years and sang with the Syracuse Chorale. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing pool and shuffleboard. He was a member of the North Syracuse Baptist Church and sang in their choir.
Harold was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, the former Laura Carleton in 1999, and by their daughter, Marie.
Surviving are seven daughters: Laura "Cookie" Glenn Ritchie of Pennellville, Christina Peter Hollander of Mechanicsburg PA, Rita George Orner of Taylors SC, Cynthia Jake Burghardt of Phoenix NY, Jayne Mark Brayton of Concord NC, Irene Patrick Magdziuk of Liverpool, and Dorothy Glen Bahadur of Mattydale; his son: Harold "Bud" Marion Casolare, Jr. of Kirkville; sister: Beatrice Coir of Mattydale; brother: Charles Casolare of Palm Harbor FL; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th at North Syracuse Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to New Hope Family Services, 3519 James Street, Syracuse NY 13206.
