Charles “Jack” Renk, 89, of Richfield Blvd. in Mattydale, passed away Monday, June 12th. Chuck was a native of Liverpool who grew up and resided most of his life in Mattydale. He was the son of the late Leo A. and Helen (Sanderson) Renk.
Chuck was a 1953 graduate of North Syracuse High School. He served for six years as a sergeant with the 174th New York Air National Guard. Chuck retired in 2001 after 35 years as a steel fabrication engineer and sales coordinator for Technical Erectors in Syracuse. Since then, he worked for Material Handling Sales for several years. Chuck was on the committee for the Boy Scouts of America and served as Cub Master for Boy Scouts Pack #126. He coached in the Mattydale Little League and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church where he volunteered on the Parish Council, served as a lector, was in the choir and volunteered at bingo.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was predeceased by a brother, David Renk, a nephew, Mark Renk and a daughter-in-law, Virginia Renk.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Mary E. (Grover); their four children: John Renk of Cleveland, James Renk of Phoenix, Jeffrey (Cindy) Renk of Liverpool, and Anne Renk of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; and 5.75 great grandchildren.
