Floyd E. Chetwin, 81 of Drexler Ave. S., Liverpool died Thursday at the Syracuse Home Association in Baldwinsville. A native of Syracuse, Mr. Chetwin resided in Liverpool since 1940. Floyd was an Army veteran of WW II and served in the Pacific Theater. He retired in 1983 after 30 years as the Water Superintendent for the Town of Salina Water Department. He also owned and operated C. Chetwin Construction Co. as a home builder in Liverpool for 40 years. Floyd was the past Commodore of the former Outboard Boating Club of CNY and the Viking Boat Club. He was a member of the Campers for Christ, the MAPS program through the Assembly of God, and a member of the Wetzel Rd. Church of Christ in Liverpool.
He was predeceased by his older brother Clifford Chetwin in 1959. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Kathleen Post, three daughters Linda Michael Backus of Lisbon, NY, Trisha Steven Chetwin-Eichmann of Pennellville, Debbie Ken Bodner of Overland Park, KS, three sons Cliff Judy Chetwin of Littleton CO, Michael Diane Chetwin of Clay, Tom Chetwin of Pennellville, a brother Douglas Judy Marshall Chetwin of Leesburg, FL, 11 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2:30 to 4:30pm Sunday followed by a memorial service at the Wetzel Rd. Church of Christ 4268 Wetzel Rd. Liverpool, NY 13090. A memory book will be available for friends to share their thoughts and memories of Floyd.
