Rosaria Farrar Cimilluca, 90, of Mattydale, died on Friday at Crouse Hospital, April 13th from undoubtedly a broken heart. Her beloved husband of 69 years Anthony predeceased her in death by only 10 days. Rosaria was born on September 21, 1916 at home in Syracuse, the daughter of Vincent and Antonia Farrar. Her mother experienced a difficult childbirth with Rosaria and she was not expected to live. She defied the odds and was always known for her feisty determination and tenacious attitude. Befitting her personality, she and Tony eloped on June 26, 1937.
Rosaria prided herself in raising her family and was an ardent protector of both her children and grandchildren. She was an outstanding cook who excelled in the preparation of Italian specialties which often included fresh herbs from her garden.
She and her husband traveled around the United States, especially enjoying their second home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Rosaria?s hobbies included golf, bike riding, providing advice, playing bingo and gardening. Her gorgeous rose gardens were admired by many. Rose was also a communicant of St. Margaret?s Church, Mattydale.
Rose is survived by, her son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Edna Cimilluca of Mexico, NY; her daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Anthony Vadala of Mattydale, her eight grandchildren, Anthony Deborah Cimilluca, Samuel Hope Cimilluca, Roseann Gregg Bayne, Anthony Toni Vadala, Michael Karen Cimilluca, John Vadala, Nicole Vadala and Beth Greg Britton and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Josephine Eugene Ruggiero and sisters-in-law Connie Farrar and Mary ?Cookie? Farrar. She was predeceased by her siblings: Dominick, John, Sam, Mary Paratore, Rose Canestraro and Lucy Farrar.
Funeral Services will be 9:15 Wednesday at the Krueger Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St., Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Contributions may be made to the 4 South, Irving Palliative Care Unit, 736 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210.
