Clyde L. Frantz, 86, of North Syracuse, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero. Born on February 14, 1938, in Syracuse to the late Sylvester and Ruth (Gott) Frantz, Clyde was a graduate of St. John the Baptist High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from LeMoyne College in 1959 and attended Glastonbury Monastery and St. Bonaventure Seminary in 1962.
Clyde enlisted in the US Air National Guard 174th Fighter Wing in Syracuse. He had a 50-year long career as an Accountant and Contract Auditor for the U.S. Department of Defense before retiring in 2011. An avid baseball fan, Clyde played while at LeMoyne College and later coached Little League and Babe Ruth for 15 years. He enjoyed rooting for the NY Yankees and was a S.U. Basketball fan who held season tickets for 40 years. Clyde was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse. He was a member of their Parish Council, volunteered on their finance committee, and was a lecturer.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Geraldine (Stanton) and their five children: Jacqueline Frantz of North Syracuse, Eric (Hannah) Frantz of Dallas, TX, Susan (Seth) Josephson of Verona, Michaeline (Brook) Gleasman of Fayetteville, and Brian (Athena) Frantz of Cicero. He was a loving grandfather to Rachel, Isabella, Sophia, Nina and Ruby Josephson, Connor, Oliver, Joshua, Nicholas and Noah Gleasman, and Reagan Frantz.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clyde’s memory may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church and School, 409 S. Main St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, 12 Noon, at St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse with burial following in North Syracuse Cemetery.Thursday, April 11, 2024
