Donald "Cookie" Cook, 85, of North Syracuse, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at home. Born in Syracuse, Don was the son of the late Charles and Thelma (St. Dennis) Cook. He grew up on the West side and attended St. Lucy's Academy. Donald resided in North Syracuse for the past 26 years.
He was a US Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean War. Don retired in 2016 after 18 years with Acosta Inc as a product merchandiser. Prior to that, he was a delivery driver for Millbrook Bread for 30 years. Don was a member of the VFW Post #3146 and the American Legion Post #1837, both in Mattydale. He loved to golf and participated in many area tournaments and was an avid NY Yankees fan attending many games in the city. Don was a parishioner of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale and also served as an Usher.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Gary and Howard Cook.
Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Marion (Turner); six children: Eileen (Perry) Kelly of North Syracuse, Donald (Susan) Cook, Jr. of Syracuse, Debbie Cook of Syracuse, Deborah (Jerry) Allen-Fischer of Clay, Cindy Menzer of Syracuse, and Robin (Jon Fox) Pankhurst of Liverpool; a brother: Robert Cook of Fulton; 10 grandchildren: Jennifer, Steven, Kayla, Michael, Paul, Aron, Andrew, Melisa, Amanda, and Lynsee; and by many great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 - 4 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services are Monday, 10:30 am, at the funeral home with Entombment in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dewitt.
