Elnora "El" Cooper, 77, of Rochester, passed away Saturday, May 4th at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Greece. Born to the late Rocci and Marguerite (Kurtz) Bruno in Syracuse, NY, Elnora was raised in Mattydale where she graduated in 1960 from North Syracuse High School. She earned her Nursing Degree in 1963 from Highland School of Nursing in Rochester.
Elnora retired in 1995 after 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Rochester Psychiatric Center. She volunteered her time assisting Hospice care patients at Isaiah House. El loved to travel with her husband to exotic locations including Aruba, the Dominican Republic, as well as some domestic travel in the South. She enjoyed bird watching and taking long walks. Elnora was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester where she volunteered as a money counter and on their funeral reception committee.
Elnora is survived by her husband of 49 years, Calvin Cooper; an aunt, Aurelia "Tinka" McLaughlin of Manlius; several cousins; a half sister, Carol Decker; and three special cousins: Peggy Millert and Jean (Bill) Arns, both of Syracuse and Tim Kurtz of NC.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, 2:00 PM, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. A Memorial Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester will be planned for a later date.
