Garry D. Coutts, 72, longtime resident of Cynthia Drive in North Syracuse, died unexpectedly Wednesday in Theresa, NY. Garry was a native of Minot, North Dakota and had resided in the Syracuse area since 1956. He had summered for over 40 years at Wilson's Hyde Lake Campgrounds in Theresa and was the son of the late Glenn and Goldie Coutts.
Garry received his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Syracuse University and his MBA from Chapman University. He served in the US Air Force as a Russian Linguist during the Vietnam and Cold Wars. Garry retired after several years at Xerox in Utica; prior to that he worked at Singer in Auburn, Die-Molding in Canastota and Norwich Shoes. He held several patents including the orthopedic cement mixer and was a member of many engineering organizations and a charter member of the Beavers and Trappers Club at Wilson's Camp. Garry's life revolved around his family and friends. He was devoted to his wife "Chickie". Garry was the best Husband, Daddy, Papa and Friend in the universe.
He was predeceased by his two sisters, Shirley and Patsy.
Garry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Filomena, "Chickie" Pellizzeri; two daughters: Cynthia Dan Coutts-Whitney of Cicero, NY and Laurie Paul Benz of South Beloit, IL; his four grandchildren: Crystal, Daniel, Kaleigh, and Brian; as well as many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Services will follow at 7:00pm with full military honors.
