Carmel M. Daino, 90, formerly of Endres Drive in Mattydale, died Sunday, June 16, at Malta House. Carmel was a life resident of Syracuse before moving to Mattydale in 2008; prior to that, she resided at 1904 Lodi Street. She was the daughter of the late George and Bella (DiMatteo) Daino.
Carmel was a 1947 graduate of North High and attended Central City Business Institute. She retired in 1981 after 22 years as a secretary for Smith-Corona Marchant in Dewitt. Carmel also worked in Washington, D.C. from 1953-1958 for the Department of the Navy and the Air Force. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Syracuse.
Carmel was predeceased by her sister: Isabel Berger and brother, George Daino Jr.
Surviving is her nephew: Mark (Helen) Berger of Chittenango; two great nieces: Heather (James) Tarby and Dr. Elizabeth (Jared) Flodin; one great nephew: Michael Berger; three great nieces and nephews: Grace and Mark Tarby and Harper Flodin; a brother-in-law, Hubert "Mickey” Berger; and several cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will begin at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
