Darrell C. White, 91, lifetime resident of Syracuse, NY, passed away on March 2, 2025. Darrell attended Central Tech High School with the Class of 1951. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed at Paris Island and was scheduled to be deployed just as the Korean War came to an end.
Darrell's professional career began as a machine operator at Rockwell International. He later served as a water meter reader for the Syracuse Water Department before retiring. An avid long-time fan of Syracuse University sports, Darrell's enthusiasm stretched back to the Saltine Warrior days and remained with him throughout the years. Alongside his sports fandom, he was also an avid fan of the crooner, Buddy Clark. He played softball for Sak's Mobil in his younger years and dedicated over 20 years as a referee for CNY Pop Warner. He was also a longtime fan of the NY Yankees. His love for treasure hunting led him to become a regular at the area Thrifty Shoppers and he was a communicant of the former St. Brigid's Church in Syracuse.
Darrell was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret White, and by his siblings: Robert, Richard, and Betty Jane. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Carol A. (Reed) White; their two children, Darrell R. White of Syracuse and Rebecca (Matthew) Micciche of Clay; and a brother, John "Jack" White of Syracuse. He was a proud grandfather to four grandsons: Ryan, Nicholas, Matthew, and Joseph, and great-grandfather to Levi, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation or a purchase at your local Thrifty Shopper store in memory of Darrell.
