Rodney W. "Rod" DeKing, 59, of Arrowhead Lane in Liverpool, died peacefully Thursday at Crouse Hospital with his loving family by his side. Rod was a native of Fulton and had resided in Liverpool for the past 47 years. He was the son of the late Floyd and Beatrice DeKing.
Rod was a 1967 graduate of Liverpool High School. He retired in 2004 after 34 years as an electrician for New Process Gear Corporation in East Syracuse. He was a member of the Central NY Mopar Association and attended Christ the King Church in Bayberry.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years the former JoAnn Bottorff; his two daughters: Julie DeKing of Cicero and Michelle David Taylor of Clay; his son: Jeffrey Jennifer DeKing of Amherst; three sisters: Edwina Matharu of CA, Corinne Boyer of TX, Cynthia DeKing of Phoenix; a brother: Roger DeKing of Baldwinsville; his loving granddaughters, Cassidy & Emmersyn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1-4pm Sunday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer will begin Monday, 9:15am at the funeral home followed by a 10am Mass in Assumption Church in Syracuse. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Liverpool.
