Donald Detjen

August 23, 1936 — June 19, 2006

Donald B. Detjen, 69 of Matty Ave., Mattydale died Monday at St. Joseph?s Hospital. A native of New York City Don resided in North Syracuse for several years before moving to Mattydale in 1967.
He Graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1954 and retired in1998 after 44 years as a Hard Iron Clerk, with Frazer and Jones in Solvay. Don was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and served as a Trustee, and was a member of the Men?s Club and the Choir. Along with his late friend Dick Hayes he also served the church as the ?Singing Custodians?. Don also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Dees Dine and the Town Tavern Restaurant as well as bowling and golfing.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years the former Elaine Haylor, a daughter Melinda Tad England of Central Square, three sons Jeffrey Carolyn Cline Detjen of Nashua NH, Christopher Detjen of East Syracuse, Bryan Detjen of Liverpool, a sister Shirley Amidon of Naperville, IL, a brother Thomas Detjen of Parish a granddaughter Chandler England, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will be 11 am Friday at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Mattydale. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery
