Joan E. (Thornton) Dillabough, 79, of Baldwinsville, passed away Friday, June 3rd at Central Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Syracuse, and raised on the East side of the city, Joan worked at Birchwood Nursing Home before retiring in 2007 after 35 years as a housekeeper. She loved roller skating, dancing and listening to music in her youth, and more recently enjoyed crafting, coloring books, sewing gifts for her loved ones, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Moose Club Ladies Auxiliary.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, John Dillabough in 2007, her parents, Francis and Hazel Thornton, three brothers: Frank, John, and Gerald Thornton, four sisters: Patricia Dixon, Judy Hamel, Kathleen Reppi, and Barbara Bates, and by a son-in-law, John Barnello.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Sherry Barnello of Baldwinsville; two granddaughters, Heather (Eric) Rhode of Bridgeport and Amanda (Billy Sass) Hamann of North Syracuse; three great grandsons: Camron Rhode, and Damon and Deven Pienkowski; three brothers: Michael, David and Robert Thornton; three sisters: Jean Bacon, Elizabeth Michalski, and Shelley Thornton; and by several nieces and nephews.

Services were private and burial was in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
