Phillip DiMatteo

December 9, 1946 — April 5, 2007

Phillip ?Butch? J. DiMatteo, 60, of Cicero passed away at home on Thursday with his loving family by his side following a 25 year courageous battle with cancer. A native of Syracuse he was the son of the late Philip and Josephine Schena DiMatteo. He graduated from North High and served with the Marine Corps Reserves.
He worked in the Syracuse area in both sales and management positions with various automobile dealers including Dick Haskin?s Olds GMC Trucks, Bill Rapp Superstore, and most recently Romano Motors in Fayetteville.
Phil was a member of the MG Club CNY Chapter, a Communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, and was an avid fisherman. He also was a professional Model with AMS Modeling and had appeared in many television commercials for several local companies including Metro Mattress, Raymour & Flanagan, Colorado Mining Co. and Krueger Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years the former Shirley Kendrat, three daughters Lisa DiMatteo of North Syracuse, Joelle Kevin Greer of Cicero, Michelle DiMatteo of North Syracuse, a brother Louis J. Karen DiMatteo of Grand Island three grandsons Michael and Andrew DiMatteo, and Joseph Flood, a forth grandchild due to arrive in September, and Lisa Spuches, a close family friend who was referred to as Phil?s fourth daughter.
Phil?s family would like to recognize the compassionate and exceptional care given by all the doctors, nurses, and staff throughout Phil?s long and courageous journey. Also many thanks to all the family and friends that have brought love, laughs, food and support during this difficult time.
Funeral Services will be 9:15 Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Garden Mausoleum Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 pm Monday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Central New York Chapter, Learbury Centre 401 North Salina St. Syracuse, NY 13203.
