Bertha "Lena" Osinski Domachowski, 96, died Wednesday, July 8th. Born in Syracuse, Lena lived in Mattydale most of her life. She retired after a long career as a decorator for Syracuse China, a job she loved. Her passion was her garden. Lena was an honored member of the Rose Society and the Iris Society. She volunteered hundreds of hours maintaining the rose garden at Thornden Park. She was always eager to help others with flower questions or cuttings from her garden. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale and a lifetime member of their Altar Rosary Society Group.
Lena was predeceased by her husband Anthony Domachowski in 1990, her daughter Roberta in 1991, and her siblings: Chester, John, Walter, Charles and Josephine.
She is survived by her sister: Mary Carr of Cumberland, RI; her two daughters: Frances Edward Gocek of Syracuse and Beverly Ralph Austin of North Syracuse; her son: James Sandy Domachowski of Mexico NY; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer service will begin Saturday, 9am at the funeral home followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum.
