Maurice Dowling

January 22, 1929 — December 3, 2007

Maurice H. Dowling, 78, of Matty Ave. Mattydale died Monday at St. Joseph?s hospital. Maurice was a native of Croghan NY; he had been a resident of Mattydale since 1962. He was the son of the late Hugh J. Dowling and Frances Parquet.
Maurice attended Fr. Leo Memorial High School and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Siena College. He was a US Army veteran and served as a Sergeant in the Korean War. Maurice was a loan officer with Marine Midland Bank which later became HSBC for 33 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1832 and a communicant of St. Margaret?s Church where he was a bingo volunteer and a member of the socialites group.
Maurice was predeceased by his son, Paul Dowling in March 2007 in addition to his twin brother, Martin and brother, John.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Rose Demers, his daughter Maureen Brian Hogan of Fulton, two sons, Hugh Dowling of Mattydale and Edward Peggy Dowling of Liverpool and two granddaughters, Samantha and Julia.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Funeral Services will be Friday, 10am at St., Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum in Clay. Contributions may be made to St. Margaret?s Angel Fund, 203 Roxboro Rd. Mattydale, NY 13211.
