Rose Dowling

Rose Demers Dowling, 79, of Matty Ave. Mattydale died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Rose was a native of Providence, RI; she had been a resident of Mattydale since 1962. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Demers.
Rose attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing in New York City. She had worked as a registered nurse at several area hospitals including: Memorial, St. Mary's and St. Joseph's before retiring in 1987. Rose was a former treasurer for the PTO at Riordan Elementary and was recently taking part in the Nurses' Study. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church and a member of its Socialites group.
Rose was predeceased by her son, Paul Dowling in March 2007, her husband, Maurice in December 2007 and her brother Henry in 1987.
Surviving are her children: Maureen Brian Hogan of Fulton, Hugh Dowling of Mattydale and Edward Peggy Dowling of Liverpool; her sister, Marie Bob Christy of Canton, NY; two granddaughters, Samantha Hogan and Julia Dowling, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from4-7pm Friday at Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Prayer will be on Saturday, 10am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St., Margaret's Church. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum in Clay.
