Mary Calcagnino Duda, 89, of Taft Road in East Syracuse, died peacefully Thursday at her home after a long, brave and very dignified battle with cancer. A native of Syracuse, Mary had resided on Taft Road since 1958 and was the daughter of the late Mario and Grace Calcagnino.
Mary owned and operated Du-Rite Upholstery with her sister, Ann, in Syracuse from 1958-2000. She learned her trade at Hoffman and Hoffman.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Duda in 1998 and her siblings: James, Anthony, Laura and Nick.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law: Bill and JoAnn Duda of East Syracuse; her sister: Ann Calcagnino of East Syracuse; two brothers: John Calcagnino of North Syracuse, and Vito Calcagnino of Las Vegas, NV; her grandson: Billy Amy Duda of Cleveland; and granddaughter, Bonnie Duda of East Syracuse.
Friends may call from 12-3pm on Sunday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer service at the funeral home will be held on Monday, 8:15am followed by Mass at St. Matthew's Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
