Walter G. Dudek, 84 of Bailey Rd., N. Syracuse, died Friday at University Hospital. Born in Braddock, PA, he grew up in Utica and was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Ryznar Dudek. Walter was a WW II veteran of the Navy and served in the Pacific theater aboard the USS Trion and the USS Charles R. Ware. He later attended the Drafting Institute in NYC, Alfred University and received an engineering degree from the University of New York in Troy in the 1950?s. Walter has resided in North Syracuse for the past 51 years and retired in 1982 after 30 years as a Service Engineer for the Carrier Corp. in Syracuse.
He was a Member of the American Legion Post # 1297, North Syracuse, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Solvay, the L.A.C.E. Club and was a communicant of St. Margaret?s Catholic Church in Mattydale.
He was survived by his loving wife of 58 years Helen, a son Dennis and his wife Terry Dudek, of Fabius, a grandson Randal and a sister Josephine Jaje of Utica.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Krueger Funeral Home Mattydale. Services will be 9:30 am Thursday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd. and 10 am in St. Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Utica.
