Joseph J. Duplessis, 91, of Central Square, died Friday, January 12, 2018. Born and raised in Syracuse, Joseph was the son of the late Alexander and Henrietta Duplessis. He resided on Ryan's Circle in Central Square for 10 years prior to moving in with his daughter in September.
Joseph was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Intrepid (CV-11) as a gunner. He retired in 1986 after more than 20 years as a Journeyman Machinist at New Process Gear. Joseph was a member of the VFW Maxwell Post in North Syracuse. Following his retirement, Joseph enjoyed fishing and traveling the country with his wife in their R.V. His most recent interest was building and flying model airplanes and drones.
Joseph was predeceased by his grandson, Jamie Duplessis, in 2009.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, the former Dorothy (White); their three children: Joyce Sauter of North Syracuse, Patricia (Bill) Burnham of Cicero, and Robert (Loree) Duplessis of Fulton,; a sister, Mary Jennings of VT; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.

Friends may call on Monday from 1 - 2 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services with Military Honors will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
