Stella D. Elmore, 97, a resident of The Nottingham, Jamesville died Sunday in the nursing home wing of the retirement home. Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, raised near Lowville, NY, Mrs. Elmore lived for over 50 years in California, with her late husband Glenn R. Elmore, before returning to Central New York in 1999. She owned and operated the Arapahoe Nursing Home in Los Angeles and later was a real estate agent for Antelope Valley Properties in Lake Hughes, CA. She was a practicing Catholic. During WWII, she served in the Women?s Army Corps in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. She was the author of Glenn?s Raven, The Sheriff, published in 1991 by Vantage Press.
Mrs. Elmore was the daughter of the late Benjamin Dauksha and Katherine Pogorzelski Dauksha and was predeceased by four siblings Stephanie McNeil 1991, Alice Bush 1988, Hedwig Roberts 2003 and Alexander Dauksha 1943, Three half brothers Joseph Siemienowicz 1947, Edward Siemienowicz 1951 and Walter Siemienowicz 1977. She is survived by a sister Eleanor L. Davidson of Schenectady, three half-siblings Helen O?Keefe of Syracuse, Genevieve Bouck of Florida and Robert Siemienowicz of Lowville, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services will be at 10:30 am at the Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am in St. Margaret's Church. Friends may call from 10-10:30 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Onondaga Veteran?s Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Margaret?s Church 203 Roxboro Rd. Mattydale, NY 13211.
