Eric P. Hart

Eric P. Hart, 58, of Mattydale, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Albany Medical Center. Eric grew up and resided in Mattydale for most of his life. For a short time, he lived in South Carolina and Texas for about 8 years before moving back to the area in 2011. He attended St. Margaret’s School and was a 1984 graduate of Cicero North Syracuse High School. Following high school, Eric attended OCM BOCES and Herkimer Community College to become a refrigeration specialist.

He owned and operated Hart Controls, Inc., both locally and out of state until 2010. Since then, he worked as a foreman for ABC Refrigeration and HVAC in East Syracuse. Eric was a true “deadhead”, following the Grateful Dead across the country and enjoying music festivals along the way. Eric was an avid gamer especially with Civ Rev. He was a dedicated single father for many years and hosted family gatherings with his children every Friday night for dinner and Sunday morning for breakfast.

 Eric was predeceased by his parents, Paul J. and JoAnn (Hayes) Hart. He is survived by his four children: Amber (Steve Spagnola) Hart of Bridgeport, Alexis (Phoenix) Smith of Mattydale, Eric Hart of North Syracuse, and Bradley Hart of Mattydale; his siblings: Mary Jo (Lew) Johns of Austin, TX, Paul (Anne) Hart of North Syracuse, Judy Gullen of New Auburn, WI, and Christopher Hart of Seattle Washington; his two grandchildren, Rose and Tommy; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 14, from 11 am - 2 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
