Robert Fleisch

Robert L. Fleisch, age 88, of 7 Denner Road, Chippewa Bay, NY died Thursday March 27, 2008 at Hospice Home at High Point, N.C.
A native and lifelong resident of Syracuse, Mr. Fleisch was born September 5, 1919 a son of Henry and Mabel Jost Fleisch. He was a member of Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Syracuse and, when in High Point, attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church. A veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart, he served in the 27th Infantry from 1941 until being discharged in February of 1945. He was a member and past Commander of VFW Post 729 in North Syracuse. For over 32 years he worked as a supervisor for the Onondaga County Highway Department. Following retirement, he moved to Chippewa Bay, NY.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Marion Calpeter Fleisch; a daughter, Geraldine Ewaldsen and her husband Ford, all of High Point; two granchildren, Lt. Commander Ford Ewaldsen Jr. and his wife Shayne and Marianne Beardall and her husband Matthew; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Beardall, Jr., Christian Ewaldsen, Nathan Ewaldsen, Caroline Beardall, and Reagan Beardall.
Funeral services were held in High Point. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff Road, High Point NC 27262.
