James E. Fleury, 75, of Warners, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born on his father's birthday in a log cabin in Westville, NY, that has been in his family since it was built in 1854, James was the son of the late Victor and Florida (Dame) Fleury. James grew up working on his grandfather Thomas Fleury's farm before moving to Syracuse in 1956.
James retired in 1989 after 34 years as a Master Mechanic for the City of Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and his ATV when visiting his family in Franklin County. James loved to go home during the summer following his retirement to help with the farming and he was never known to drive anything but a Ford product.
He was predeceased by his three siblings, Roger and Arthur Fleury and Betsy Trepanier.
James is survived by three sisters: Edith Horner of Syracuse, Lorraine (George) Moore of Phoenix, and Madonna (Ed) Stevens of FL; two brothers: Lester (Deb) Recore of Liverpool, and Wayne (Vicky) Recore of Camillus; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his longtime special friends: Jack, Brenda, and Darryl Moore.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a funeral service following at 7 pm. Friends may also call on Sunday from 3-6 pm at Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, 568 E. Main St., Malone, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Monday, 10 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Constable, NY, with burial following in St. Francis Of Assisi Cemetery.
