Frederick J. Johnson, 84, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at his home, surrounded by loving family. He was born on February 5, 1938, in Syracuse, NY where he lived his entire life and resided in Mattydale, NY.
He worked at Syracuse China Co. for 32 years in the maintenance department, where he was well liked by the people he worked with. He was a generous and kind man who was always there to help people in need, always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved to hunt and fish and spend as much time as he could in the great outdoors. If he wasn’t hunting or fishing, then it was camping.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary (DuFore) and Leonard Dyer, three brothers: Ronnie, Lenny, and Michael, and by a sister, Wendy.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathleen (Sexton); his children: Marilyn (Matt) Bower, Flora Lynn and Elizabeth, from previous marriages; his step-children: John (Sharon) Simone of Texas, Dana Simone of Virginia, and Diana (Rich) Stafford of Binghamton whom he loved and raised as his own; two brothers, Chuck (Donna) Dyer and Daniel (Ginny) Dyer; his favorite grandchildren: Michael, Isabel, Asa, Joe, Tori, Micaela, Richie, and Abbie; 12 great grandchildren: Laila, Tristan, Benjamin, Gabby, Dasi, August, Benjamin, Sunday, Joyful, Eli, Jonah, and Josie; and several nieces and nephews. He was simply dad, grampa and great grampa and he was loved.
