Doris "Do", 71 and Richard "Dick" Fuller, 75, of Mattydale, passed away Saturday from injuries sustained from an auto accident in the Town of Sullivan.
Doris was a native of the Watertown area and was a graduate of Jordan High School. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Beatrice Baker Lawton and has resided with Dick in Mattydale for the past 20 years. She and retired from KeyBank of New York in August of 2008 as a head teller after 30 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Dick was a native of Syracuse, graduating from North High and was the son of the late Herbert and Emma Fuller. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War, and resided in Waynesboro VA for 26 years before moving to Mattydale. Dick retired in 1985 after more than 20 years as a technician at General Electric in Syracuse and Virginia. Since then he worked as a teller at M & T Bank in Syracuse for several years. Dick was an inactive member of the Mennonite and a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose and the Benevolent Protective order of the Elk in Waynesboro. Doris enjoyed baking treats, as much as Dick enjoyed eating them. They both liked playing bingo and playing games with her family and friends. They were baseball fans and followed the Atlanta Braves and the Syracuse Chiefs.
Doris was predeceased by her brother Morris A. Lawton and is survived by her three children: Gregory O. Hamlin and June M. John Hill, both of Bloomsburg PA, and Stewart A. Gina Hamlin of Prospect, NY; and their father, William Hamlin of FL, five grandchildren: Zachery J. Naiomi Hill, Nashua M. Hill, Cody W. Hill, Torey N. Hamlin and Jacob S. Hamlin; two great grandchildren: Ethan and Alec; her siblings: Helen L. Jack Garlach of FL, Kenneth F. Irene Lawton and Phyllis A. Frank Smith, both of Syracuse, and 14 nieces and nephews.
Dick is survived by his five children: Mary Jim Craun of Waynesboro, Theresa Fuller of Peoria AZ, Susan Lee Fugelstad of Alexandria VA, Robert Fuller of Christiansburg VA, and Steven Brenda Fuller of Richmond VA; and their mother, Helen Chadwell of San Antonio TX; his seven grandchildren: Robert, Kirk and Chrystal Fuller, Megan and Ethan Fugelstad, Kyle Fuller and Joshua Moke; one great granddaughter, Odessa Craun; and his sisters: Margaret O'Brien of FL, Marilyn Dietrich and Rosemary Fuller, both of CO.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8pm at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Joint Funeral Services will be held Thursday, 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Plainville Cemetery, Plainville in the Spring. Contribution may be made to Aurora of CNY, the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
