Thomas “Tim” C. Gangemi, 97, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island, to the late Antonio and Rose (Campanella) Gangemi. Tim was a US Navy World War II veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. He worked for General Electric for almost 40 years. Tim was also a crossing guard for the Liverpool School District for over 20 Years.
He served on the North Syracuse Cemetery Board of Directors for 20 years, The Draft Board, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing softball as a pitcher and played on multiple teams well into retirement. Tim was an avid NY Yankee fan along with the NY Giants and SU. He enjoyed working on projects around the house and helping many neighbors and friends with their projects. Tim was a parishioner at St Margaret’s Church for over 70 years.
Tim and Mary (DeMarco) Gangemi were married 72 years before she passed away in 2018. She was the love of his life and his childhood sweetheart. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Phillip, Joseph, Nicholas, Anthony, Samuel, Paul, Josephine, Margaret, Helen, and son-in-law, Christopher Tanski.
Tim is survived by his sister: Rose Rossi, his children: Barbara Tanski, Thomas (Julie) Gangemi and Patricia (Robert) Luckenbaugh, grandchildren: Christopher (Holly) Tanski, Heather (Adam) Engels, Andrew Gangemi, Kimberly Vassenelli, and Nicole Vassenelli (Justin Stewart, companion), great-grandchildren: Audrey Chapman and Lucy Tanski and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 26, from 9:00 – 11:00 am at St. Margaret’s Church, 203 Roxboro Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211 with a Catholic mass immediately following at 11:00 am. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
