S. Garafalo

S. Bertha Roeckelein Garafalo, age 97, of North Syracuse passed away peacefully at home on Friday. She was born in Syracuse but moved to California in 1945 where she owned Bertha's Bakery. When her husband retired, they returned to Syracuse. She was active in the Wagon Wheel Senior Center.
Bertha was predeceased by her husband of 73 years Sam, her sisters: Anna Bauer, Clara Dippold, and Pearl King, and her brothers: Charles, Edward, Fred, John, Robert and William Roeckelein.
She is survived by her sister Ruth Roeckelein, her 22 nieces and nephews and loyal caretakers who loved her. The family wishes to thank Mary Ann and Kathy of Hospice for their Exceptional care. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends may call from 11:30 to 1:30 pm Tuesday at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services are 1:30 pm at the funeral home and 2 pm in St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Contribution may be made to HOSPICE of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool NY 13088.
