Keith Garner

Keith A. Garner, 82, of Muskrat Bay Rd., Brewerton, died Thursday at St. Joseph?s Health Care Center following a sudden illness. He grew up in Clare, NY and has resided in Brewerton since 1948. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII, attended the School of Aircraft Instruments and transferred into the army and served as a Military Policeman at Ft. Sheridan in Chicago. Keith retired in 1987 from the Lipe Rollway Corp after 40 years as a machinist in Syracuse. He was a life member of the Brewerton Vol. Fire Dept. and served more than 50 years. He was a past President and life member of the Lake Forest Sportsman Club. Keith was an avid hunter and fisherman and had been a certified instructor of NYS Hunter Safety and Snowmobile Safety Courses for many years. He also was a member of the Oneida Lake Assoc. and volunteered with the Boy Scouts. He was a long time parishioner and former Trustee of the Brewerton United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastwood American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years Darlene, a daughter Joanne John Brigham, of Brewerton, a son Steven Linda Garner of Marcellus, 2 sisters Blanche Bob Peden, of Syracuse, Norma Hurley, of Mattydale, two granddaughters Amy and Trista Garner, one great grandson Jordan, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday at the Brewerton United Methodist Church, 5395 Orangeport Rd., Brewerton, NY 13029. Burial will be in Onondaga Co Veteran?s Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Brewerton United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Lake Forest Sportsman Club, C/O Don Harwood 5750 East Mud Mill Rd. Brewerton, NY 13029.
