Leonard C. Geary, 83, of Minoa Bridgeport Road in Minoa, died Monday at home. Leonard grew up in Fayetteville but had resided in Minoa for over 55 years. He was the son of the late Clifford and Anna Geary.
Leonard graduated from Central Tech and entered the US Air Force to serve in World War II. He retired in 1995 after seven years as an Inspector for Carrier Corporation. Prior to that, he worked for over 30 years at Accurate Die Casting in Fayetteville during the 1950's and 1960's and at Casto-Matic Company in Eastwood. Leonard was the past president of the UAW Local #491. He drove stock cars in the Dirt Track Circuit in Central New York. His love of cars included an impressive collection of antique and muscle cars. Leonard attended St. Mary's Church in Minoa.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Paula Ann, in 1948.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Elizabeth Porter; two sons: Leonard Geary of Minoa, and Robert Geary of North Syracuse; and his grandson: Justin Geary of Minoa.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer service will on Friday, 9:45 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass in St. Mary's Church, Minoa. Burial will be in Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
