Isabel Gerber

Isabel Slingerland Gerber, 86, of Mattydale died Thursday at Birchwood Health Center in Liverpool. A native of Syracuse she resided in Mattydale since 1952. She was a 1938 graduate of Nottingham High and studied Art over a period of years at Syracuse University and abroad. Isabel was a well known local Artist and was commissioned by several area businesses for lobby paintings, mostly historical depictions of Syracuse and the Erie Canal. She also worked for the Tisdell Photograph Studios in Syracuse in the 1950?s and 60?s and was a member of the Syracuse Art Guild.
Her husband of 47 years John F. Gerber predeceased her in 1994. Surviving are a daughter Carol Gerber of Folsom Lake CA, a son Michael J. Gerber of Cicero, a brother John Slingerland of Clearwater, FL, two grandchildren Lindsey and Paul.
Services will be Private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Onondaga Veteran?s Memorial Park. Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd.
