Jane Janiak Giannuzzi, 90, of Syracuse, died Sunday at the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville. Jane was a life resident of Syracuse and had resided on Burnet Ave for 70 years before moving to Syracuse Home in 2009. She was the daughter of the late John and Judwiga Janiak.
Jane retired in 1978 from Land of Lakes Foods in Syracuse as a bookkeeper; she had previously worked at Resnick's Pocketbook Factory and Stanley Home Products. In her youth, Jane was very athletic and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. She loved to sing and dance and an avid bingo player in later years. Jane was a life long communicant of Transfiguration Church in Syracuse. She was active in many church activities including participation in the Altar Rosary Society and singing in the church choir.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Victor Giannuzzi, in 2008 and by her great grandson, Aaron Giannuzzi.
Surviving are her two sons: Robert Giannuzzi of Columbia, SC, and Joseph Giannuzzi, Sr. of Liverpool; a sister and brother: Virginia Gocek and Joseph Janiak, both of Syracuse; her five grandchildren: Richard Giannuzzi, Robert Jr., Joseph Jr., Angela Giannuzzi and Nathalie Wheatley; and four great grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin on Thursday, 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at Transfiguration Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions in Jane's memory may be made to Transfiguration Church, 740 Teall Ave, Syracuse NY 13206.
